Dave Marshall - Host & Founder
During an incredible continuous period of over 40 years as a prime time host on radio and television here in the west of Scotland, on Radio Clyde, Saga 105.2FM, Smooth Radio and Scottish Television, Dave has gained an encyclopaedic knowledge of music from the last six decades.
Your engaging 'seventy something' host has presented numerous public events, given talks on his four decades behind the microphone and interviewed hundreds of guests from every walk of life.
Asked about his fund raising project, Dave talks openly about his mother who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease in 2005, telling us that many of his experiences as he visited her regularly in a local care home during her final two years helped to inspire him to set up 'Yesterday Once More'.
He continued, "Every older person has a wealth of stories to tell and a host of memories, often locked away. During our friendly and informal sessions, I'll be encouraging my audience, without pressure, to recall their own special moments from years gone by".
An opportunity like this is sure to arouse many special memories of an era gone by and everyone present can choose to become involved as Dave sets off on that unique journey to remember how we used to live 'back in the day'.
Front man Dave, launched 'Yesterday Once More' with guidance from the team at Voluntary Action East Renfrewshire (V.A - E.R.) in Barrhead and valuable assistance from volunteers, son in law Stephen Mackenzie (Treasurer) and close friend and neighbour, Bob MacCallum (Secretary).
Stephen Mackenzie - Treasurer
Stephen joined a local Finance Company some time ago after returning from the Isle of Man where he worked in offshore banking for a number of years. Prior to this Stephen helped run the family food distribution business. Married to Nicola, their son, Calum now takes up most of his spare time. Although, as Stephen told us, "When I'm not running about after a twelve year old at the park, I still enjoy the odd game of five a side and sneaking off to the pub. If the day to day stresses of life at the cutting edge of asset finance get too much, I find a climb in the Scottish mountains helps clear the mind!"
Robert (Bob) MacCallum - Secretary
Following qualification as a social worker, Bob's 30 year career in social work led him to senior management positions in various parts of Glasgow and East Kilbride. In 1986 Bob left Strathclyde Region social work department to take up a post with ENABLE, Glasgow, (formerly, the Scottish Society for the Mentally Handicapped), where he was responsible for residential daycare and recreational services for people with a learning disabilities. Although he retired many years ago, Bob is still actively involved with ENABLE, at committee level.
